Propagation
The work of Faraday, Maxwell, Hertz, Lodge and others in the 19th century led to demonstrations of the propagation of radio waves and then to practical applications for communication. Indeed, the way in which radio waves can propagate over large distances without the need for wires and the fact that the waves may be modulated to carry information, is the foundation of the radio communication industry.
