By Andrew Barron, ZL3DW
Andrew Barron is well known for his 'down-to-earth' books that explain how you can get the most out of your radio. This book is no exception and, in common with all the other books in this Radio Today series, the radiotoday guide to the Xeigu X6200 is not simply a 'rehash' of the user manual.
The Xiegu X6200 follows on from the Xiegu X6100 which has proved so popular because of its quality and relatively low price. The Xiegu X6200 is another very competitively priced QRP radio with a bright 4" colour display that uses 'DRFS' direct radio frequency sampling, with an ADC working at the incoming radio frequencies. The radio features a voice keyer and CW message keyer and also has built-in CW, PSK, and RTTY decoders just like the Icom IC-7300.
As usual, the radiotoday guide to the Xeigu X6200 is 'how-to-do-it' book which describes how to set up and use the transceiver, including helpful guidance to the many features that are not included in the sales information or the supplied manual. The X6200 does require some initial configuration, especially if you want to use external digital mode software such as WSJT-X (FT8), MixW, CW Skimmer, or MRP40 and you can find that information here. Andrew has also included details on the WiFi and Bluetooth connections along with updating the radio firmware, loading the Windows driver software for the USB cable connection, and connecting the radio to your PC, to name but a few of the helpful tips this book contains.
If you are considering buying a Xeigu X6200, or already own one, there is simply no better guide to this radio than having a copy of the radiotoday guide to the Xeigu X6200.
